Nixon signing The 26th Amendment

I was born on July 5th, 1971

At least, that’s what my birth certificate says, I’m not in touch anyone who was there at the time. 🙂

What happened on this day?

The 26th Amendment to the United States Constitution, formally certified by President Richard Nixon, lowers the voting age from 21 to 18. There was a riot at a Led Zeppelin show in Milan at the Vigorelli Velodrome. Frank Zappa & Mothers Of Invention played in my hometown, Montreal @ CKGM-FM Studios. Daniel Ellsberg was on the cover of Time Magazine.

The Montreal Expos played a doubleheader against the New York Mets, at Shea Stadium. The Expos won the first game 2-1, defeating Hall of Fame Starting Pitcher Nolan Ryan. The Expos were then destroyed 8-0 in the second game, led by Cleon Jones 4 RBI’s.

Not a bad day.
