The main reason for my trips to Southern California is to visit my family, who moved there from Montreal over 20 years ago. We’ve kept in touch, and I do my best to visit them once a year if I can. This time around, it was for a very special occasion as my cousin Bram was getting married.
To my surprise, my Mom agreed to come with me to this event. While I felt that she should attend, given her historical disinterest in travel, I was sure she would say no. Not only did she say yes, but she was also in pretty good spirits the whole trip. I did my best to take care of her and coordinate the weekend and at no point did she complain and went along with all plans. I have to admit, I was expecting the worst and thought that it would be trying with both of us out of our comfort zones. I hadn’t spent this much full-time, mom-time in years.
When I got home and thought about our time together, I only had positive memories and was happy that I got a chance to spend that time with her. I know she appreciated it, and so did I.
She isn’t a fan of having her photograph taken (like me!), but I think this is a nice shot of the old woman!
Thank Mom for a wonderful weekend. I love you.
