Orioles vs. Nationals (Cancelled)

For my birthday, I decided to treat myself to a baseball trip that included 4 cities, in 6 days. I started my trip by flying into Washington, DC to catch my 3rd Nationals home game this season. The scheduled pitching match-up was Washington Nationals: Doug Fister, Baltimore Orioles: Bud Norris.

While the weather was nice all day within 45 minutes of getting to the ball park there was a weather advisory. The sky very quickly went from overcast to ominous as the grounds crew unrolled the tarp.

Everyone was waiting patiently for the first hour or so with the hopes that the storm would pass. Since I was wearing my Montreal Expos hat, I had a few interesting conversations about the team, and why baseball wasn’t working (and could work again) in my fair city.

After about 2 hours, it was pretty clear that the storm was going to go on for a few more hours. At this point some people started to leave. I explored the stadium and took a few photos for another 30 minutes or so and then accepted that the game wasn’t going to happen and hopped on the Metro back to my hotel.

The first game of my 4-game run was rescheduled for August 4th, but I don’t see how I’m going to get back to attend it.

When the rain started to really come down, I took their advice, took cover under the concourse, and waited for almost three hours before giving up and heading back to my hotel. The game was rescheduled for August 4th, but I don’t see how I’m going to get back to attend it.
