mixing Metallica’s …And Justice for All
...And Justice for All is my favourite Metallica album and the one that introduced me to them. When I heard One for the first time I really understood what all the attention was about. Even now when I put on that song it is as tight as possible and sounds like metal scraping on metal. While it was probably exactly the sounds that the band was going for, it has always sounded a bit strange. There was virtually no bass and the drums had a strange clicking tone. I can’t wait for the day when the band lets someone completely remix the album.
In the meantime, here’s an article on Blabbermouth that explores what Steve Thompson had to say about the mixing experience.
