While the Blue Jays clinched a playoff spot yesterday thanks to an Orioles loss, today’s win over the Red Sox moved them a bit closer to the dream of securing home-field advantage for the AL Wild Card. While Manoah wasn’t sharp today, he still no-hit Boston through four innings, although his pitch count was a bit high.
What was unexpected was Yusei Kikuchi coming into the game for the save, pitching three innings and only giving up one hit with five strikeouts, which bested Alek tonight.
As it was National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, Tsuaki Marule, who is from the Blood Tribe, performed the national anthem in English, French and Blackfoot. I also appreciated that all of the staff tonight were wearing orange shirts.
