After a terrible 2024, I wasn’t surprised that the Blue Jays let Jordan Romano go, but I was surprised to see the Phillies pick him up for roughly the same salary. While entering the game in the 9th, with a strong lead, all he had to do was get some ground balls and a strikeout or two. Instead, he gave up six runs and almost lost the game single-handedly. I was sure he wouldn’t last the week given this performance, but they stuck with him through the season. I hope he figures things out and isn’t seriously injured since he was a proven closer for Toronto.
On the bright side, Bryson Stott had a solid game in the leadoff spot, going three for five with two runs scored and three RBIs.
