While I had hoped the Blue Jays would pull off a win to take the series from the Tigers, it was not meant to be. Detroit scored two runs in the top of the first on a double by Spencer Torkelson to score Kerry Carpenter and Zach McKinstry. Toronto finally put up a couple of runs in the bottom of the fourth on singles by Alejandro Kirk and Ernie Clement to score Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Daulton Varsho. In the top of the seventh, Spencer Torkelson singled to score Gleyber Torres for his third RBI of the game.
The biggest hole in the Blue Jays’ lineup right now is Anthony Santander, who is hitting below the Mendoza line and may be hurt and not just slumping.
