As amazing as it has been to see Trey Yesavage blossom into a playoff-ready pitcher after only a few games in September, it wasn’t great to see him get lit up today. Struggling with his command, he hit Randy Arozarena, and he proceeded to walk Cal Raleigh. He set things up for Julio Rodriguez to go deep and hit a three-run home run to start the game.

In the fifth, Yesavage got in trouble again, giving up a single to Arozarena and then intentionally walking Raleigh. Bringing in Varland to try and get the Blue Jays out of trouble instead turned into another three-run home run off of a 98 mph fastball.

With the Mariners taking the first two games in Toronto and with a decisive victory today, things were not looking good for the Blue Jays, who were heading to Seattle for three games.
