Clocking in at two hours and seven minutes, I’m confident this game was the shortest, full nine-inning game I’ve ever been to. With the starting pitching ticking along for the first few innings, it took a home run by local fan favourite Pete Crow-Armstrong in the bottom of the fourth to open the scoring. With another home run in the sixth by Seiya Suzuki, the Cubs locked up the win, with everyone except the heart of the lineup silent.
While I personally scored a pretty nice seat in the lower deck behind home plate, the nicest thing was being in a ballpark on a Wednesday night sell-out, with fans who know and love the game, and love their Cubbies.
