While ALDS Game One was an unexpected blowout, what happened in Game Two was even more surprising. While the score on the surface looks closer than the previous night, it was more lopsided and an impressive win.

The Blue Jays hitting was explosive, and it felt like they were almost always in attack mode. Their keep-the-line-moving style of baseball led to them leaving nearly no runners on base. Add into that mix home runs by Clement, Guerrero (a grand slam no less), Varsho and Springer, and you have a game that was even more ferocious than the day before.

The seven runs the Yankees scored in the 6th and 7th tightened the score, but the Yankees were in about as close to a forfeit situation as you can be in a playoff game. Toronto settled things down in the 8th and beyond with Louis Varland and Seranthony Dominguez.

What got them into this situation was one of the most impressive pitching performances by Trey Yesavage, who was only brought up from the minors weeks ago. With only three major league starts in the regular season, he struck out 11 Yankees, and when Schneider pulled him from the game in the sixth, he was still pitching a no-hitter.

While there were other moments during the 2025 playoff run for the Blue Jays that may have been a bigger deal than I saw, this was the game that made it abundantly clear that they had what it would take to not only be able to beat the Yankees but to make a deep run in these playoffs.
