While some of the stars of the 1980’s were on hand and honoured during the pre-game show, the focus was on Jim Fanning, one of the longest serving members of the Expos front office and the manager of the only team ever to make it to the playoffs. Jim was a crucial part of the team and helped to develop one of the best farm systems in the game.

In 2011 I had the pleasure of meeting Jim Fanning at the first Expos All-Star Gala. Our conversation was short, but it was great to get a chance to say thank you for all the years he invested into the Montreal Expos.
