After four annual visits in a row in the early 2010s, I took a six-year hiatus from visiting one of my favourite places in the world, St. John’s, NL. In 2019, I was given the best excuse in a long time to get on a plane back to The Rock. A few months earlier, my Plank teammate, Erin Whitney, left us to become the Executive Director of the Newfoundland Folk Arts Society and Festival, so I had to make it a point to head over to support her.
In addition to three days of Folk Festival festivities at Bannerman Park, I was able to attend: the Royal St. John’s Regatta and visit Cape Spear.
