With a game that featured two home runs by Francisco Lindor and one by Juan Soto that was challenged and then overturned, I quite enjoyed my first Citi Field game experience in over a decade. While I like watching the Mets play and the park, I found the amount of travel I had to do to get to and from Manhattan was a lot. Clearly, the next time I make Mets baseball plans, I’m going to stay somewhere near Laguardia.
With the game seemingly locked up for the Mets at the bottom of the 8th inning, quite a few fans started to leave, not realizing that their bullpen would give up four runs in the 9th and almost cost them the win against Philadelphia. They had to bring in Edwin Díaz to mop up the trouble (and somehow give up a three-run home run) that Max Kranick got them into.
