When I was last in Ottawa in December, making the case for my mom and stepdad to move back to Montreal, I did not think I would be back for a completely different reason.
I was scheduled to get on a train at the end of the day on March 4th to visit and help interview a cleaning company to help around the house, but I ended up changing my plans to go in first thing in the morning. I got a frantic call from my stepdad that my mother really was not well. I knew I had to go there immediately, and by the time I got to Ottawa, she was already at the hospital. Without going into all of the terrible details, we spent the next eight days in the hospital watching my mom quickly fade away.
With her funeral and burial only a few days later, back in Montreal, she ended up where she had fought me so hard to never return to again.
