After attending two ALCS losses, I was ready for a Trey Yesavage redemption game, and that’s exactly what I got. After struggling through ALCS Game Two, getting almost through six innings, giving up only two runs with seven strikeouts, he gave his team what they needed to lead the whole game.
With three double plays, Toronto’s defence was strong, unlike Seattle, which gave up three errors and let the Blue Jays keep chipping away at the Mariners. Add into the mix home runs by Vladdy and Barger, and you have all of the elements you need to win this important game.
I was surprised they chose to use Hoffman for two complete innings and let him throw 35 pitches, but using only three pitchers will help get everyone else a little extra rest.
With one win away from reaching the World Series, it looks like I’ll need to find a way to get a ticket for tomorrow’s game. While it has been a lot to be shuttling back and forth between Montreal and Toronto to catch these games, I wouldn’t have missed it for anything.
With the Blue Jays outscoring the Mariners 32 to 25 so far, the edge is going to them as they head into Game Seven to decide who will be going to the World Series.
Hazel Mae: “For the 2nd time in franchise history, the Blue Jays are going to play a game 7. Are you ready?”
