While Kevin Gausman was about as solid as possible, pitching six scoreless innings with one hit, one walk, and nine strikeouts, handing the bullpen a 3-0 lead. Unfortunately, the bullpen decided that they weren’t interested in celebrating a win today.
While Daniel Schneemann’s solo home run off of Chad Green in the eighth inning was annoying, three Guardians strikeouts kept the win in reach for Toronto. Unfortunately, Yimi García struggled in the ninth and gave up the lead on another home run by Daniel Schneemann, this time a grand slam.
Daniel Schneemann. 2 for 4, 2 home runs, and 5 RBIs. The whole Guardians offense.
Yimi García has been shouldering a bigger load than he may have been able to, pitching in three of the last four games.
Fun TV Moment: Max Scherzer mocking home plate umpire CB Bucknor, insinuating that he was using a coin flip to make his calls.
I ran into one of the New Brunwickers I was sitting with yesterday, and he seemed a bit bummed he didn’t get one of the Minecraft Movie Giveaway Hats. I gave him mine and said, “Enjoy your weekend”.
